My Xbox Wrap-up – 2022 Year in Review

I know, I am couple of months late to this, but I want to share my thoughts on the games I have played in 2022, followed by some statistics. I am not going to rate them like professional reviewers, but I will just classify them on how entertaining they were to me.

The Good Ones

These are the games I thoroughly enjoyed playing.

  1. Yakuza Like a Dragon
    • One of my favorite main characters of all time in my favorite series – Ichiban Kasuga. The fantastic gameplay (Turn based, which is new to the series), story, characters and the craziness of the Yakuza series continues.
  2. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life
    • A well-deserved farewell to Kazama Kiryū with this game. Good gameplay, locations and an okay-ish story carried by Kiryū. The antagonist is a bit cliche and is bad for the sake of being bad. Other than that, it’s pretty good game.
  3. Yakuza 5 Remastered
    • Enjoyed the different gameplays for different characters you play. You get to play 4 characters which is awesome as they all have different styles, different backstories and different motivations. Kazama Kiryū vs 100 Tojo men was an awesome fight, he is just too OP.
  4. Mafia: Definitive Edition
    • This is a remaster of an old game with new graphics, new engine, improved gameplay and same story. I did not play the old one and I loved the setting, story and gameplay. A classic mafia story in game format that was entertaining enough.
  5. Marvel’s Guardians of Galaxy
    • This is the first Marvel game I played, and it was pretty good. Being used to movie characters, this started out a bit weird to me as the character models looked different and were voiced differently, but this game really caught my attention by 2 chapters. The Story was engaging, the world was beautiful, and the gameplay was unique.
  6. Forza Horizon – Hot wheels DLC
    • Forza Horizon remains my favorite racing game and the new DLC in Hot wheels world was fantastic. As usual they nailed with music, tracks and the world.

The Meh Ones

These are the games that have done the minimum to keep me entertained but are not memorable enough to me.

  1. Assassins Creed Valhalla and the DLC’s
    • Although the world is beautiful, the story was just okay. The main character Eivor, the gameplay felt a bit meh to me. The worlds are huge, but uninteresting and it was a bit of chore to complete this.
  2. Yakuza 4 Remastered
    • This was meh to me for one reason. The Prison Guard Saito. I hated the fight with him, and you need to fight him 5 times, I think. At one point, I stopped playing completely for more than a month as the fight was ridiculously hard and the difficulty scaling is pretty bad. The overall plot, gameplay outside of this fight was ok but this character Saito just ruined my experience.
  3. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
    • This is basically Star Wars game set with Lego characters. It was okay and a good no brainer game to play.
  4. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
    • This was a good game, beautiful worlds, good story but the gameplay is not for me. I think it’s more of a soul’s style which I didn’t enjoy.

The Not-For-Me Ones

These games are not just for me.

  1. Far Cry New Dawn
    • Just a boring, boring game.
  2. Dodgeball Academia
    • This game was a good one, you play as a student in Dodgeball Academy, but it’s not my cup of tea.
  3. Destroy all Humans
    • This is a good game with some childish humor. You play as an alien invading the earth and fighting humans. Although the game was beautiful, it’s not for me.

My Xbox Statistics for 2022

In the year 2022, I gained 8905 Gamerscore and won 480 achievements across multiple games I mentioned above. That’s pretty good in my book considering, I skipped playing for more than a month.

If you want to connect with me on Xbox, my Gamer tag is `The Shershah`.
